You are my sunshine, my only Sunshine
You make me happy, when skies are grey
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you,
Please don’t take my Sunshine away.
–There are several more verses to the song, this is just the refrain but sticks in my mind and most importantly, in my heart. It was sung to me as a child and I sang it to my daughter. Some day I know she will pass along the memory of comfort, the happy dreams it affords you as you drift off to sleep, the safety of being in the arms of that person as you are rocked, who will make you feel better, and be by your side no matter what.
By Heart – Daily Prompt
Youโre asked to recite a poem (or song lyrics) from memory โ whatโs the first one that comes to mind? Does it have a special meaning, or is there another reason it has stayed, intact, in your mind?
Love that so much
